Back in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Elaine Thompson-Herah made a breakthrough and took over the throne of sprinting queen from compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce by winning the 200m title. In that, Elaine became the first woman ever to complete a double sprint in the Olympics since the world’s fastest, Florence Griffith Joyner, back in 1988.

Since then, Elaine Thompson-Herah has never looked back. But such vast experience in the highest platform seems to have given rise to the wish to give away the wisdom.

In the interview session, Elaine Thompson-Herah said, “I’m out, and there is nothing else to do. Whenever it comes to work, I’m out already.” She went on adding, “I think it’s a good give back, you know, based on my experience in the sports. It’s a good way to give back tips and instructions to people who are new and want to learn more about sports. ” While preparing for the Paris Olympics, Elaine’s training session with kids is just a glimpse of what she is up to.

Elaine reveals her ‘key focus’ in the Olympic year

In the Tokyo Olympics, Elaine Thompson-Herah, on her way to 100m gold, set a new Olympic record of 10.61. The very next year, in the 2021 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, she bettered it to achieve her personal best time of 10:54. In this effort, she also became the first woman to come this close to FloJo’s record of 10:49 set back in 1988. With all this, she must be up for some fireworks in Paris as well. But what is her what is her primary focus in achieving that?

In the same interview, Elaine Thompson-Herah revealed, “The key focus is always to stay healthy. I don’t think the time matters right now. It matters about you getting nutritious and staying fit and healthy. And once I have that…the time will come after. But…the aim is definitely always to try to break our record and defend my title. But my focus is just to stay fit, stay healthy, take it race by race, season by season.” Having said all that, it remains to be seen if she can make a hattrick of her double sprint in Paris.
