“I Almost Gave Up”: World’s Second Fastest Woman Elaine-Thompson Herah Nearly Breaks Down on Camera As He Opens Up on Her Tough Return To Track

30-year-old Elaine Thompson-Herah has canceled the rumors of her retirement with her latest smashing performance on June 24. The world’s second-fastest woman recently made her comeback at the 100 m race at JAAA All Comers Meet. With hard work and determination, she achieved the first position within a time frame of 11:24 seconds. As Thomspon’s victory was a hard-earned one, she became emotional while expressing her happiness for her fate.

On June 25, a Twitter user shared the athlete’s video which was captured after the event was over at the Ashenheim Stadium. It featured the proud athlete interacting with the media and talking about her strong comeback.

Elaine Thompson had experienced several injuries in the previous season. It had kept her away from training and also affected her athletic form. However, despite the odds, she was glad she could make it to the 100 m event which was held at the campus of Jamaica College in Kingston on Saturday night. She added in the interview, “ It has been a challenging one but I still hang on. I almost gave up but you know I have faith and I came out here to just test my body to see where I’m at.”

Furthermore, Elaine added that she did not get to train the way she wanted. She could have practiced harder. The athlete knew she had missed proper training sessions and competitions since April 14. But despite the challenges, she wanted to test her body in the 100 m race. Moreover, she felt supremely grateful as she managed to win the championship and tell the world that she was not done yet.

After winning the JAAA All Comers Meet, the next event that is on Thompson’s bucket list is Jamaica National Championships, set to take place next month. Although Thompson has pressure to perform her best at the upcoming championship, she also has a different plan in mind if things do not go the way she wants.

Thompson has already risen to the moment with her victory at the recent championship. Naturally, she does have the pressure to maintain her winning streak at next month’s event. However, if things do not work out in her favor at the Jamaica National Championships, she would start preparing for the 2024 Olympics.

Furthermore, she explained that it is important to listen to the body. If her body wanted more time to heal, she would take a backseat and a complete break from the sport to work on herself. Thompson also added that her main focus would be building her mind frame and physique before appearing for the following events.
