Soon after the American sensation’s gold claims, a veteran athlete from Jamaica made his intentions clear about clinching the coveted gold in Paris. Already boasting a couple of Olympic gold and silver each in his arsenal, this athlete will come to Paris with an experience bank of 3 Olympics behind him.

Once touted as the successor to Usain Bolt, the 34-year-old track and field athlete has made a lot of changes building up to the Olympics. In fact, speaking about getting the individual gold medal, this athlete did not just dream about the same, but he believed it.

34-year-old Jamaican athlete aims for a glorious track and field farewell

Yohan Blake has already declared that Paris will be his last time stepping into an Olympic track and field. Thus, to make his farewell memorable, Blake is gearing up to spoil the party for the likes of Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman. Appearing in an interview with Athletics Weekly, Blake clarified his intentions for Paris. 

When asked about whether he can surprise the world by clinching the individual caviar at the Olympics, Blake had a cold, but firm reply. He said, “I know i’m going to. I don’t think, I know i’m going to.” Having to sit out for the majority of the time in the past, Blake stated that he is slowly getting back to his groove. Talking about his mental condition, the Jamaican immediately pointed out that he was in the right frame of mind to make the dash.

Blake also emphasized on the fact that he has made a lot of changes to his diet and training. For instance, the 34-year-old has switched to a complete carnivorous diet and also spoke about making “scientific changes” to his body. However, Blake did not detail what exact scientific changes he was referring to. Yohan Blake on balancing training and business

Starting his entrepreneurial journey in 2023, track and field athlete Yohan Blake launched REVIERE, a water purification company. Over the years, the business has expanded to full-fledged operations with Blake at the helm. However, as the Olympics drew closer, the chances of conflicting interest loomed large. Intrigued by the prospect, Citius Mag caught up with the 3x Olympian searching for the answer. 

Clearing the air, Blake stated that most of the hard work is being carried out by his impeccable team of inspired individuals. Blake further doubled down on the importance of giving your team the desired respect. He said, “I try to talk to each and every one of them… try to teach them equal so that everything can run smooth.” Thus, while his team is taking care of his business for the moment, Yohan Blake is putting in “seven to eight billion percent” of hard work to make Paris a memory to cherish for.
