Spending a lot of time with the world’s fastest woman, Fraser Pryce, a 19-year-old Jamaican sprinter, has been emerging as a formidable force in the annals of track and field at a very young age. Following the path taken by Shelly-Ann, Alana Reid is the world’s second-fastest U20 sprinter, with a personal best of 10.92.

However, Reid has become hungrier than ever before. Alana Reid may be young, but is wise beyond her years. She recently got into a tête-à-tête with Fitzroy Dunkley on the university choice that has caught her fancy, owing to its robust track program. Once again, Reid has made it to the spotlight with a recent interview session.

Amongst the doyen of top track and field programs in unis, Alana Reid takes her pick

In a candid interview with Fitzroy Dunkley, the Jamaican sprinter Alana Reid started with the team to share her insights regarding the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, Shelly-Ann, and much more. While posting the glimpse of the interview with Reid’s spectators, Fitzroy Dunkley penned, Alana Reid on Her First Year Pro, Olympics, Shelly-ann Fraser-Pryce and Almost Going to Oregon.”

While leaving high school, Reid had two major options to pursue: “gone to college,or ….have gone pro“. As the latter chose the second option, spectators have always been discussing the road not taken. To the spectator’s surprise, Reid spoke about the same topic in this recent interview. 

Interestingly, when asked about it, “But if you didn’t go pro, what school did you go to?” Reid replied, “University of Oregon. Oregon. Okay…Before signing with the University of Oregon, The major reason for taking up the University of Oregon’s name was due to the track regimen and program offered there, an unparalleled choice influencing her thought process.

Reid’s beacon of inspiration unveiled

In the same interview, Reid added, I really like Kimba. Like, just watching her run. And there was a specific race where I think everybody was voting. I said, oh, she can’t win. And she ended up winning that race…I would like to even meet someone from that school if I get the opportunity. But the person I met ended up leaving. Okay. I was like, if I get the chance, I want to go and live there.

Apart from Kimba and Shelly-Ann, Reid has been fascinated by a lot of track and field legends throughout her journey. As she followed the path toward excellence, she not only achieved various accolades but with the Olympic target on her vision board, she’ll be vying for glory. Being the nation’s fifth fastest woman sprinter, standing behind Shericka Jackson, Reid is focusing on My dream is to go to Paris,“.  Now, the question is, will Reid be able to fulfill her dream this season?
