The news was updated by an account named Kemal Forde on X. It read, “11.19 seconds with a -0.9mps wind for Melissa Jefferson to win Final Two of the 100m at the Miramar Invitational. Alana Reid finished seventh with 11.62 seconds and Shashalee Forbes Did Not Finish.” Such a performance would certainly boost Jefferson’s confidence significantly and would make her believe that she might just make the cut to Paris.

Meanwhile, back in Georgetown, there was Melvin Jefferson who could not control his tears. Melvin is the proud father of Melissa, who would probably not have been alive if not for Melissa. While still in her senior year at Carvers Bay High School, Melissa’s dad was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in 2018. With no other option left, Melissa donated her stem cells to repair her father’s damaged bone marrow, in turn, saving Melvin’s life. An emotional Melvin Jefferson expressed his gratitude towards his daughter in a past interview.
