After the USA’s 111-113 loss against Germany on Friday, the internet is rallying behind Lyles in calling out the NBA division. The World Athletics has also joined hands with the internet community and posted an update on their official Twitter handle. They shared the USA vs. Germany scorecard with Lyles image below that says “WORLD CHAMPION OF WHAT? This is the same statement Lyles gave during the interview when he was talking about the NBA.

This major setback for the USA came on September 8 when Germany knocked out the star-studded American team at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. This marked Team USA’s second defeat in the current tournament, following their loss to Lithuania on Sunday. This loss, like the previous one, sparked viral reactions and drew support for Noah Lyles.

After their 104-110 defeat against Lithuania, the NBA stars’ statement on Lyles backfired on them, and people started to back the 26-year-old triple world champion. Following these two disappointing defeats, the American team once again squared off against Canada on Sunday, this time vying for third place. Unfortunately, they suffered yet another heartbreaking loss, with a final score of 118?127, leaving them without a single medal.
