For Noah Lyles, his inability to bring gold from the Tokyo Olympics has shaped his mindset to go longer down the line. In the USATF Journey to Gold Zone Podcast on Spotify, he mentioned, “After Tokyo I had to really look at myself and say I no longer want to be the same guy.” However, according to his track and field coach, Lance Brauman, the Olympic trials hold much bigger value in turning any athlete’s career upside down. The learned coach has thrown his weight behind the US Olympic track and field trials for many reasons.

In the conversation, titled “LetsRun.com’s Track Talk”, Noah Lyles and his coach, Lance Brauman, sat down together to discuss the track and field nitty gritty. In that conversation, when asked about the room for error in the upcoming trials, Lance Brauman flouted the possibility. Moreover, he added, “The Olympic trials is probably every four years, the hardest meet in the world…I mean there’s a lot more on the line at the Olympic trials because you have to make it to the team. You don’t have a choice there, you have to be ready that day.” But at the same time, the esteemed mentor from the Adidas track and field camp described a few more niggling points that keep apart the Olympics and its trials.

According to Noah’s mentor, “The Olympic games still rings its own, its own, um, interesting parts of the sports.” So his suggestion went out: “The idea is to do everything you do throughout a year to be ready for both. In the upcoming battles as well, the 6x world champion will face the indoor world champion. To have an edge over him, understandably, Noah should be able to maintain his dominance in the entirety of the race. So in such tussles, Brauman’s suggestion might come in handy.
