With the Paris Olympics drawing nearer every day, every stepping stone on the way is being highly contested. As the Bahamas World Athletics Relays 2024 rages on at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium, the USA’s track and field stars seem to be fixated on securing their tickets to the French capital, and they’re putting up quite the show!
Team USA has been laying down some serious groundwork en route to Paris and the ongoing tournament is being witness to breakneck speeds in almost all events. Moments after winning the men’s 4x100m relays, USA’s Noah Lyles took to social media to announce his and his comrade’s latest achievement with a sonorous tone.
“On to Paris!” reads the caption of the reigning 100m world champion’s post. In the men’s 4x100m relay race heat 1, the team of Courtney Lindsey, Kenneth Bednarek, Kyree King, and Noah Lyles came first with a time of 37.49, with Italy finishing the race second (38.14).

On the other hand, the women’s team also triumphed at its respective 4x100m race as Tamari Davis, Gabby Thomas, Celera Barness, and Melissa Jefferson edged past France and Nigeria to clinch the top spot in Heat 1. In the women’s 4x400m relay Heat 4 too, Team USA triumphed (3:24.76) with Alexis Holmes anchoring the final leg after Quanera Hayes, Bailey Lear, and Na’Asha Robinson.

However, Champion Allison’s rookie mistake at the starting line got the men’s 4x400m team disqualified. But, the American athletes once again clinched the top spot in the mixed 4x400m Heat 1. With four out of five USA teams having qualified for the Paris Olympics with stellar performances at the Bahamas Relays, fans can now finally brace up for some big things to come in July on the banks of the Seine.
Noah Lyles’ grand plans for the Olympics shaping up, one race at a time
This might be just the kind of assurance Lyles needed as his first step toward materializing his bold claims at the upcoming Olympics. Months ago, the five-time Diamond League gold medalist revealed his “greedy” ambitions to dethrone Usain Bolt by winning four golds at all four events (100m, 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m) at the upcoming Paris Games.

With two more gold medals at the last World Championships in Budapest, Noah’s words weren’t unjustified, and last month too, he sent out another definitive message to his international opponents by winning the men’s 100m sprint at the Tom Jones Memorial. However, the possibility of seeing the six-time world champ in the 4×400 relay looks shady with him not being on the team at the Bahamas Relays.
