All eyes were on New Orleans, Louisiana, this weekend. The Bayou Classic is more than just a game of football: it’s an event of historical importance, and this year, it was no different. The Grambling State Tigers and the Southern University Jaguars locked horns once again for the 51st edition of the iconic rivalry. However, there was something else that caught Noah Lyles off guard!

The men’s 200m Olympic champ spent a quaint Thanksgiving with his family. Being from Virginia, one would speculate Lyles isn’t unaware of the storied competition the GSU and Southern University football teams have had over the years. And yet, the speedster probably wasn’t ready for the hilarious question that came his way from the Caesars Superdome on Saturday.

Noah Lyles receives a baffling, albeit amusing, question

Celebrity sports commentator Lewis Johnson spotted a Noah Lyles lookalike at tonight’s game and had to alert the Olympian. While the Jaguars picked up an incredible 24-14 victory over the Tigers at the game, it was the Grambling State’s graduate assistant coach connection that hogged Johnson’s attention. “Hey @LylesNoah…ran into this @GSU_TIGERS grad asst. coach before the @BayouClassic74…and had to ask him…”Any relation to the World’s Fastest Man?”,” wrote the commentator in his post on X on November 30. With that, he also looked for an explanation from the man himself.

With the social media update coming to Lyles’ attention, it seemed like even he was taken aback by what he saw. The 27-year-old track sensation replied, “dang I definitely see the similarities,” while also noting that he, in fact, didn’t share any relationship with the GSU football staff. And yet, fans can’t ignore the physical similarities that the person in the picture shares with Noah, and we daresay a few chucklesome discussions are on their way.

But remembering the bumpy relationship Lyles has with the football community, one can’t help but think if this could be the emergence of another tryst between the track runner and one more football enthusiast.

Getting entangled in another football squabble?

In recent years, Noah Lyles’ name has been entangled with the Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill on more than one occasion. Hill has claimed that he could beat Lyles in a head-to-head race, and keeping up his signature flamboyance, the Olympic gold medalist hasn’t taken much time before hitting back. The debates and discussions haven’t slowed down, and Lyles has made it clear that he’s up for such a race if Hill is. The fans on both sides, on the other hand, have been more than keen to see things pan out for their entertainment, while Lyles himself has claimed that Tyreek is more interested in talking trash rather than actually following up on his claims.

With Johnson now sparking fresh controversy involving the professional track icon and another football community member, could this be the next chapter of Lyles’ love-hate relationship with America’s favorite sport? Or do you the banter between Tyreek Hill and Noah is enough to keep the fans from losing focus on such trivial matters? Tell us in the comment section below!
