Noah Lyles has been maintaining a bittersweet relationship with Jamaica. While he is eagerly eyeing the opportunity to dethrone the Jamaican legend Usain Bolt from the track and field record books, he has received accolades from legends like Asafa Powell, the Jamaican veteran. However, when it comes to living his personal life away from the track, Jamaica comes to his rescue, as his love interest, Junelle Bromfield, is a proud Jamaican athlete. But would that relationship restrict Noah Lyles from going heavy on the Jamaican opponents in the Paris Olympics? Maybe not. Amid his aim to beat Jamaican powerhouses on the track, Noah never shies away from engaging in fun banter with his girlfriend. He recently exemplified this when he ‘fired’ Junelle.

On July 15, Noah Lyles posted a snippet on his Instagram from his salon time in Groveland, Florida. It shows Noah’s new dreadlocks, which have ultimately satisfied the six-time world champion. In the snippet, he can be seen inspecting his new hairstyle in a mirror. Notably, this time, Junelle Bromfield is not the creator of Noah Lyles’ hairstyle. Instead, the Groveland-based salon, All My Kair, takes the credit. After finding such a hair designer, the American athlete comically said, “She’s fired,” referring to his girlfriend, who sat in the corner of the salon, caring less about Noah’s new haircut.

The couple has been consistently supporting each other, both on and off the track. In the weeks leading up to the Jamaican trials, Noah Lyles was often seen preparing with his girlfriend at Adidas’ Florida facility. Junelle Bromfield, being a tough master on the track, pushed Noah’s abilities, while he couldn’t help but admire this side of her.

Perhaps that guidance on the track has benefitted Noah in hindsight, as few athletes can compare to him now. His sprint double qualifications in the US Olympic trials have already made him a standout in Paris. Meanwhile, his girlfriend, Junelle, will also join him in the French capital, participating in the 400m and 4x400m events for the Jamaican squad. She has thanked her American boyfriend for helping her achieve that.

Junelle Bromfield gushes in Noah Lyles’ role

Before heading to the Tokyo Olympics, Junelle Bromfield lost her mother, Sandra Farquharson, to cervical cancer. Despite her grief, she continued her preparation, keeping herself numb to the pain. However, her mental health paid the ultimate price, as the toll of her loss lingered despite her success in Tokyo. Ultimately, Junelle found support and treatment from Noah Lyles and his mother, Keisha Caine Bishop. The duo helped her in every way possible.

In her recent podcast with The Inside Lane, Junelle revealed, “I started therapy about two years ago because my boyfriend is big on therapy and felt I needed it. It’s been really helpful because I’ve been dealing with survivor’s guilt, which was weighing on me. Now, I feel like I can live my life fully and enjoy every moment because life is short.” She also spoke about Keisha Caine Bishop.

She remembers all Noah’s mother has done for her to help her live a healthy life. Those memories led her to say, “I want to give a big shout-out to my boyfriend and his mom because when I went to Florida, I wasn’t driving, and she took me to training and back every day, which was like 40 minutes. That’s a support that I’m extremely grateful for.” As Noah aims to win gold in Paris, his Jamaican girlfriend is by his side to support him along with his family.
