Noah Lyles is aiming for a quadruple in the Paris Olympics and his mother is worried about it! While Lyles has emerged as one of the modern-day track and field greats competing in four different disciplines is not a matter of joke. Thus, when Keisha Caine heard about his son trying to do the impossible, it was natural for her to be concerned. However, a look at Noah Lyles’ recent form would comfort his fans.

Although he came second best in the World Indoor 60m, his time of 6.44s was utterly impressive. With Lyles now eyeing the Olympic quadruple, his mother wants her son to take things slowly and cautiously.

There is a reason why no athlete has ever been able to win four gold in four separate events(100m, 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m). It takes tremendous conditioning of the mind and body for an athlete to maintain peak form throughout the four events. Florence Griffith Joyner almost did the unthinkable in 1988 Seoul, as she won gold in all three disciplines except for the 4x400m, where she had to settle with a silver.

Citing her concerns for Noah Lyles, his mother stated, If he wants to, as long as after all those rounds, his body is OK…It’s so many rounds, plus the 4×100-relay.” Well, if Noah Lyles can pull off the quadruple it would go down in the history books for sure. But in order to do that, Lyles will have to run at least ten times considering there are usually four rounds in the 100m & 200m events. However, talking about Lyles’ participation, his coach, Lance Brauman has his priorities straight.

Brauman stated, “In my system and how we train here, sprinters sprint. You train where you can run anything from 100 meters to 400 meters. But the emphasis for him is the 100 and 200 meters.” He further went on to say that the decision to participate in the relays would depend entirely on the country. Speaking of relays, Noah Lyles’ inclusion in the 4x400m relay at the World Indoors came with significant backlash.
