She came from modest origins but made a smooth transition into post-collegiate running, developing her marathon career step by step. She recently got into a tête-à-tête on her colossal rise to grace, from her humble beginnings to the trials win and Olympic dreams.

The underdog story: a la Dakotah Lindwurm

Dakotah Lindwurm showed determination and fortitude in her pursuit of Olympic qualification. Thought to be a long shot, she surprised everyone by finishing third in the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials by outlasting many more seasoned racers. Adapting her hockey abled physique to running was no easy feat, but she shook the grounds of Orlando with her thunderous gallops. Envisioning her Paris vistas, she expressed, Today was the first time I started to dream about it and talk it through with my boyfriend. But I think on a hot day it can produce an underdog story just as much as it did on Saturday. I want to place in the top 10, though it would be great to bring home a medal for the country.”

When further quipped about the cut of her jib and her resolve for the mega games, she quipped – “Taking a couple months off or anything just to go from Chicago to the Olympic Trials was pretty tough”. With a sound mind and a sound body, how exactly is she laser focusing on the games ahead?

Dakotah Lindwurm states that -“ I’d love to do a couple of shorter races to work on my speed”. Baby steps and working her way upwards seem to be her clarion call.
