Track legend Carl Lewis has a heartfelt message for US sprinting star Noah Lyles. Lyles, who had an impressive outing in the 100m and won the gold, was aiming for a sprint double in the 200m. Unfortunately, that dream suffered a jolting setback as Noah Lyles was found infected by the COVID-19 virus and was helped off the track in a wheelchair. This was a sorry visual for thousands of track and field enthusiasts and a heartbreaking moment for Lyles himself, as he still had two more disciplines left to participate in Paris.

However, being a legend of the sport, Carl Lewis has a full understanding of how brutal track and field can be. Thus, following Lyles’ tragic news, Lewis took to his X account to extend his support to the 2024 men’s 100m gold medalist in his dark times. Lewis stated, “I’ve been in track and field for almost 50 years. It is one of the most difficult sports to be in. Congratulations to all of the great athletes in the world, and I marvel at your talent.  But someone has to out themselves out there for all of you to get attention.”
