Well, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce‘s presence at Stade de France was enough to add a spring to the New Zealand women’s rugby team steps! After Michaela Blyde shared a fangirl moment with Fraser-Pryce, the track veteran has now delivered another sweet surprise for the Tokyo 2020 gold medalist.

Only this time, the entire rugby team was present and witnessed the two notch up their bond. And well, how could they not click pictures with the veteran? Since now, Fraser-Pryce has been preparing to draw the curtains on her incredible career. Post this last stretch!

Fraser-Pryce goes the extra mile for Blyde

As seen in Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s Instagram story, the Jamaican had graced the Paris Olympics stadium with her presence, to support Michaela Blyde. Rooting for her from the sidelines, she was there to witness live rugby action. Plus, she even clicked pictures with the entire New Zealand side. And those snippets were later uploaded on her social media story by Tyla Nathan Wong, Blyde’s teammate. Well, they featured Fraser-Pryce happily posing with the nation’s rugby woman squad!

Originally, the pictures were part of a post added via Team New Zealand’s official Instagram handle. Boasting the legend’s presence, they added the caption, “In our Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce era” But when Tyla uploaded it on her story, she ensured to thank the 37-year-old for showing up to boost their morale. However, Tyla playfully added a remark, “Well she really came to watch @michaelablyde, but we were out there too.”

Well, why wouldn’t she? Michaela Blyde has openly voiced her adoration for Fraser-Pryce. So much so that the euphoria of meeting her in person led Blyde to rush ahead barefoot! She then flaunted, “Na stop. I just met my idol. The QUEEN of sprinting in bare feet, a stained shirt, and oversized pants. My family would be so proud.” But how did this cross-sport friendship blossom?

This track-rugby duo had a typical social media induced start to their friendship. But indeed, it is one soaked in respect and adoration. Michaela Blyde was pleasantly surprised when Fraser-Pryce started following her on Instagram. And the entire crux of what happened later was blended into a TikTok video that the rugby star posted. It displayed Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s ‘priority notification’, leaving Blyde ecstatic to bits as she flaunted it to her roommate in disbelief.

In fact, Blyde’s eyes well up, as she gets overwhelmed with joy. Yet, nervous to her core, she has her roommate type out her first message to the veteran. Soon, as Blyde eased up to the scenario, she had a meet-up fixed with the Jamaican. Greeting her with a warm hug, Fraser-Pryce asks her to breathe, as Blyde stands there, waiting for the moment to sink in. Well, all this was the aftermath of Blyde’s original video, where even a glimpse of Fraser-Pryce in the distance at the Paris Olympics Village made her teary-eyed with happiness.
