In the annals of the track and field world, one name stands out among prominent athletes after Usain Bolt- Yohan Blake. The two-time Olympic champion is among the few who beat Usain Bolt during his career days. Meanwhile, Blake, aka the training partner of Usain Bolt, is the only person who came across the world record of Usain Bolt.

At the Boudewijnstadion, Bruxelles 200m, Yohan became the second fastest person on earth as he clocked 19.26 while securing a place under Usain Bolt. Just like Yohan, there’s another contender on the world record board who features a similar feat.

Yohan and Elaine’s collaboration

Yohan Blake and Elaine Thompson are quite similar to each other, and these similarities have made both remarkable athletes to team up. Recently, both Yohan and Thompson were featured in the story on Socratesdergi’s official Instagram account. Alongside their pictures on tracks, the story also mentioned Puma running.

Back in 2022, Elaine Thompson, also known as the fastest woman on earth after FloJo, inked a deal with the German Sports manufacturing brand Puma. While announcing the news, Puma’s CEO penned, “We are thrilled that Elaine has chosen to join the PUMA family…With her speed, she embodies everything we stand for as a brand. Elaine ran the second-fastest time in women’s history last year and is only 0.05 seconds off a world record.

Fueled by the Jamaican women’s NIL deal, Yohan Blake signed a similar offer with the same brand, PUMA, in 2023. Directly after the deal was inked, PUMA uploaded a couple of pictures of Yohan to make an official announcement and penned, “A new chapter begins. Welcome, @yohanblake, to the PUMA family”.

Yohan’s prelude to Olympic aspirations

Even though both the track and field sensations inked the deal at different times, they found a golden opportunity at the recent event to showcase Jamaican’s prowess on track and field. As the 2024 Paris Olympics are only a few months away, athletes are igniting to take up coveted spots so that they can punch their tickets before anyone else. Along the same lines, Yohan Blake is looking for a relevant opportunity to secure a place at the big event as he wants to end his sprinting career on a high note, preferably with an Olympics gold.

But before that, Yohan is gearing up to come up on the tracks of the upcoming Diamond League season, wherein he will be facing Fred Kerley and Christian Coleman. “Suzhou, I will be there to run on April 27. It’s going to be my first time in Suzhou; I am looking forward to it! It’s going to be fun, and you don’t want to miss it. Come and enjoy a wonderful show.” confirmed Blake.
