As athletes geared up for the first big meet of the year at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, American Track and Athletes once again dominated the coveted competition. While Noah Lyles struck gold for the second year in a row in the 60m heat, long jumper Tara Davis clinched gold in her comeback game. And her breathtaking jump at the meet has left fans in awe of the Junior women’s record holder.

But before glory made its way back to her, Tara was rigged with setbacks in 2023. She won the 2023 USA Indoor Track and Field Championship but was later tested positive for the use of Cannabis and stripped off the medal. Now, long jump enthusiasts are all showering praise on the 24-year-old.

Sensational jump of Tara Davis at NB Indoor Grand Prix

As Track and Field athlete Tara Davis braced the tracks once again after rubbing off last year’s setbacks, the long jumper marked her comeback with a sensational jump at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. She jumped 6.86m to win the gold medal while the next best was 6.64m from Quanesha Burks of the United States. Sharing a clip of her adrenaline-rushing jump on Instagram, World Athletics sang praise for the NCCA sensation, writing, “Tara really is that girl.

Tara was stripped of the indoor gold medal, but later in the World Athletics Championship 2023, she once again showed promise winning a silver medal in the women’s long jump. She was part of the American team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but finished 6th in the final. With the kind of form she is in, at least a medal is confirmed for her at the Paris 2024. And with the Indoor Grand Prix jump of 6.86m, she also overtook the record of NCAA athlete Ackelia Smith (6.85m), and the internet was all praise of the 24-year-old star.

While Tara Davis’s personal best in the long jump is 7.14m recorded in March 2021, her Indoor Grand Prix jump was nothing short of remarkable given that she was coming back from injury and after a long break. “What a jump. Young lady congrats“, a fan wrote admiring her effort.
