The one thing Harlie and Trevor Bassitt had in common, even before meeting one another, was an innate desire to compete. Trevor Bassitt was a prolific competitor throughout his high school and college years. The 400m specialist has earned a staggering 10 national titles alongside 17 All-American titles. While the track star’s wife doesn’t have a cabinet lined with trophies, she was no slouch in soccer.

Later, Harlie has carved out a niche in the creative industry. She began her career as a shift team lead at Pulp Juice and Smoothie from January 2018 to July 2021. She then transitioned to Marco Photo Service, working as a graphic designer until August 2022. In 2014, Mrs. Bassitt’s John Glenn High School soccer team was winning Division 2 district titles. By 2016, Harlie Gregory of the Lady Muskies’ had scored a then-record-setting 119 goals in four years for John Glenn High. She had also earned two All-Ohio titles in High School. However, for undisclosed reasons, her soccer career did not flourish when she joined Ashland University.

Interestingly, Harlie’s journey into running began during her freshman year of college. What started as a new hobby quickly turned into a passion. In 2018, she completed her first half marathon, followed by her first full marathon in 2019. Since then, she’s embraced the challenges of marathon and ultra-marathon running.

“What was once something I hated doing became a passion of mine very quickly. I fell in love with running,” the athlete wrote in her Instagram post. While she had run two half marathons before, the 2019 marathon awakened her urge to compete in long-distance running. By 2022, Harlie Bassitt had become a seasoned long-distance runner, while Trevor Bassitt was making waves on the international stage.

However, alongside their skill, the college sweethearts’ love for one another had also grown, and by the end of 2022, they were married. Harlie even ran, ‘The Berlin Marathon’ and finished in 2:49:56. But how did the power couple meet?

By December 2018, the former soccer player had started addressing Trevor Bassitt as her boyfriend. Harlie and Trevor’s story began at Ashland University, where they both attended from 2017 to 2021. Introduced through mutual friends, their connection quickly blossomed. Their first date was a visit to the Cleveland Art Museum on January 20, 2018—a fitting start for a couple who values both art and athletics. After three years of dating, Trevor proposed to Harlie at Nashville’s Cheekwood Gardens on September 24, 2021. They tied the knot on October 22, 2022, and have since made Gainesville, Florida, their home.

On July 2nd, Harlie Bassitt started a GoFundMe campaign to support her husband’s Olympic dreams.

“I’ve had several inquiries as to how donations could be made to Trevor to help support him and his dreams, so I wanted to open up this platform to anyone that’s interested in helping!” Mrs. Bassitt wrote.
