As an athlete, one must travel far and wide owing to professional commitment. As Megan Rapinoe says, the memories that are thus created are not just restricted to professional achievements but also personal anecdotes. The 2011 World Cup was not the best for the USWNT, as they lost to Japan; there are not many good memories on the field.

But the 2011 World Cup engraved a special memory in Megan’s mind. That’s something that happened off the field!

Megan travels back 

For the professional tours, Megan’s mother accompanies her. Speaking about her mother’s peculiar habit, the soccer star says, “whenever she travels, half of her suitcase is dedicated to pajamas.” Traveling back in time, Megan reveals that in 2011, her mother was going through menopause.

Thus, with all the hormonal imbalance, Ms. Denise Rapinoe went a bit too far with her pajamas. As Megan quotes, “when your hormones get out of whack,” her mother started going to bed with a different set of pajamas. As the soccer star recalls, her mother made no exceptions!

As Megan’s team made it to the final, the family, too, had to extend their stay. That’s when the real “PAJAMA DRAMA” started. While Rapinoe was gearing up for the finals, her mother was busy “googling German H&Ms.” Megan’s mom had her priorities set! Though the USWNT team could not win the finals, Megan returned home with a sweet memory!

Megan’s mother’s obsession with her pajamas earned her the title of “Mammer Jammer.” While the two shared a sweet relationship, there were moments of disagreements as well!

Brought up in a conservative family, there were times when Megan found herself at the opposing end. Unlike her father, she expected her mother to be “really progressive.” Undeniably, her mother always to a stand for her. But sometimes, that was not the case.

Contrary to her political views, Megan’s parents were ardent Trump supporters. She could not understand how her parents were “simultaneously as proud as punching me and watching Fox News all the time?” Her disappointment reached an extent that she once advised her parents “to go to therapy.“
