The recent match between OL Reign and Orlando Pride meant a lot for the winger and senior Megan Rapinoe. The professional soccer player completed a century of season appearances. In a post-match conference, Megan talked about her journey, fans and teammates and how it’s been special.

Megan Rapinoe Made It!

The post-match conference involved teammates Megan Rapinoe, Jess Fishlock and Lauren Barnes. While talking about the match and their opinions, Megan’s achievement brought huge smiles amongst the members.

“Guys I made it!” exclaimed Megan when asked about her thoughts on getting her 100th jersey.

From her iconic goal in the 2019 World Cup final against the Netherlands to her outspoken nature, Megan Rapinoe has always managed to be the talk of the town. One of her best soccer moments includes her iconic pose from her 2019 match against France, where she scored two goals that helped the US bag its fourth title.

The soccer professional is also a two-time Olympics champion, a two-time World Cup champion and winner of the prestigious FIFA Women’s World Cup Golden Boot. She was also declared the 2019 Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated. She is the fourth woman in the awards’ 66-year history to have won the title.

Projecting a lighthearted mood during the conference, Megan joked about her 100th appearance up until current times and how she managed to achieve this milestone. She laughed:

“My longevity comes from lack of games during the season I guess”

On the personal side, one of Megan’s top supporters is her fiancee, American former professional basketball player Sue Bird. Sue stood alongside Megan with her 100th match jersey, with a huge smile, looking proud. The couple met at the 2016 Olympics and dated for four years before getting engaged in October 2020.

Sue was a former guard for the Seattle Storm and is a popular Women’s NBA legend. She recently retired in 2022, after the WNBA semifinals, where the Seattle Storm lost to Las Vegas Aces.
