Megan Rapinoe, the captain of the U.S Women’s National Soccer Team, is a known face in the world of sports. However, her voice is not just restricted to the soccer field. She never sighs away from expressing her opinions. A woman of strong opinion, Megan dares to speak out loud and clear.

During former President Trump’s administration, Megan’s voice was often heard. She missed no chance to counter Trump’s opinion. Talking with The Guardian, Megan once opened up about how her “political and cultural beliefs” played a crucial role in her life.

Megan Rapinoe does not understand 

Her career in sports, and her many travels for tournaments, allow Megan to open up her perceptions. Though she was raised in a house that had a conservative mindset, Megan was a free bird. Speaking about her and her parent’s political beliefs, the soccer legend said, “I feel like I grew up with all of these lessons [about equality], but nothing was ever spoken.” 

When enquired whether or not she was raised in political background, Megan responded, “No language was ever put around it.” Expressing her views further, she said that she expected both her parents to be progressive. According to her, however, that is not the case.

She added how she told her parents, “You guys should really be Democrats!” However, unlike Megan, her parents do not identify as ‘democrats.’

Megan Rapinoe’s love for the Nation stands unquestionable 

Because of her boisterous and expressive self, Megan often finds herself on the receiving end of criticism. Even though her parents are not always on the same page, they take a stand for her. Being supportive of her choice, Megan’s mother, Denise, defended her daughter.

Taking about their family background, the proud mother said, “We’re a very patriotic family.” In the podcast, she further relived how Megan’s father was drafted during the Vietnam War, and both her grandfathers fought for America. Putting all queries to rest, she added, “we have a long family history of service to the country.”
