On December 17th, the Nebraska Huskers Division 1 women’s volleyball team witnessed a significant heartbreak in the NCAA Tournament. Despite being the top-seeded team, the Nebraska Huskers lost the showdown of the National Championship to the opponent team, Texas Longhorns. On the other hand, the Texas Longhorns showcased dominance on the volleyball court first by defeating the Wisconsin Badgers in the semi-finals and the Nebraska Huskers in the Finals.

However, this is not the only reason Nebraska Huskers are under the spotlight today. The team has been storming social media for the list of athletes added to the transfer portal. Recently, another key player in moving to another team’s roster.

Whitney Lauenstein’s transfer from Nebraska Huskers

6-foot-2 Outside Hitter on Nebraska Huskers, Whitney Lauenstein last played for the team back in 2022. She has various accolades during her play, including AVCA All-Region Team and Academic All-Big Ten. However, she is planning to switch teams from Nebraska to Texas for upcoming games.

To announce this news to her spectators, Lincoln Arneal, on his Twitter account, posted a family photo of Lauenstein. He penned, “Whitney Lauenstein is headed to Texas to continue her volleyball career. She has two years of eligibility remaining after playing two years at Nebraska. She sat out this past season.

Whitney is among the best players in Nebraska. She has an average of 2.8 kills and 1.1 blocks. She is switching teams majorly because she is moving to Texas with her family. However she is not the only person being added to the transfer portal this season.

Nebraska Huskers’s players moving to transfer portal

There are total three players being added to the transfer portal this season. In addition to Whitney, Hayden Kubik and Caroline Jurevicius were also added to transfer portal. While Hayden is outside hitter, Caroline is freshman opposite hitter. Kubik aka sister of Madi Kubik is well known for her performance on court including sparking moves in recent match of Nebraska Huskers against Texas.

On the other hand, Caroline is a No. 17 recruit in 2023 recruiting class. While Hayden and Whitney has two years of eligibility remaining, Caroline has all four years. The major reason for transfers are the upcoming freshman this season. Although Nebraska Huskers are welcoming new players to the team, there are no seniors departing. Therefore, Kubik and Jurevicius were added to the transfer portal.
