Since then, Iowa’s wrestling team has been emerging as the undisputed powerhouse at NCAA Championships. With an impressive winning streak of 19 consecutive wins against the opponent team, Iowa has scripted a saga of dominance.

Iowa Hawkeyes has achieved yet another accolade as the NCAA Tournament rolled into the fourth week. Recently, Iowa’s wrestling team earned the coveted title of team of the week. This massive achievement is mainly the byproduct of the hard work, strategy, and skilled players Tom Brand puts together to compete on the wrestling mat.

NCAA Tournament Glory: Team of the Week honors 

As the NCAA Championships entered its fourth week, team Iowa added another jewel to the collection by clinching the prestigious title of team of the week. This massive accomplishment for the Hawkeyes came after winning against four opponent teams till now. A recent tweet by NCAA Wrestling was captioned “NCAA Team of the Week.”

In an exclusive interview with Hawkeyeports.com, Tom Brands said, “It’s good, credit our guys…Onward. Competitors focus on what they can control. We’ve got guys that have the tremendous scoring ability, and I’m not sure that showed out there. We got beat up in the stall call department, so we have a lot of work to do. That’s where I am at. We are moving forward.” 

Currently, team Iowa is placed fourth in the NCAA Championships 2023 with 301 points. On the other hand, team Penn State stands atop the podium with 350 points. In addition to this, Iowa Hawkeyes also feature an undefeated streak of W3 in the matches against four opponent teams. Interestingly, team Iowa is crowned as the team of the week rather than team Penn State.

Iowa Hawkeyes’s 19-straight wins against Cyclones

Team Cyclones have been a formidable opponent for many, but this was not the case with the Iowa Wrestling team. In a recent showdown held on Sunday, team Iowa defeated its arch-rival at NCAA Tournament, Iowa State. The Hawkeyes have asserted their dominance and achieved a remarkable 19 consecutive victories in the showdown, 34 of 35 and 58 of 62.

Consequently, Iowa leads helped their coach, Tom Brands, improve the score against Iowa State to 18-0. Notably, team Iowa has emerged victorious in every meeting since the inception of the Dan Gable Traveling Trophy 2010, marking 13-0. Now, team Iowa is all girded up to compete with No. 1 team Penn State this Friday.
