The Indiana Hoosiers Women’s Volleyball Team has registered a big victory against the Maryland Terrapins. The Hoosiers claimed their 20th victory on their home court in a thrilling four-set match. While Maryland had equalized the efforts of Indiana in a tough second-set brawl, Hoosiers came out on top eventually.

The Indiana Hoosiers registered back-to-back set wins after their second set loss to end the game with another win. A social media post broke the news of the brilliant win claimed by the women’s volleyball team of Indiana.

Indiana Hoosiers neutralize the offense of Maryland in the final set

The players of Indiana witnessed the boiling-hot offense of Maryland take away the second set in close combat. Hence, silencing the offense of the Terrapins was crucial for the win. The home crowd witnessed their team’s strategy unfold as they effectively stopped Maryland at 14 points in the final set to win the match.

Indiana Volleyball’s official X account tweeted about the victory of its women’s team. The tweet carried the caption, “Hoosier victory!” and showcased the result of the match, as Indiana won by 25-21, 24-26, 25-23, and 25-14. The Indiana Hoosiers entered the match against the Maryland Terrapins after losing a very close five-set match against Minnesota. 

On the other hand, Maryland was booming with confidence after cleanly sweeping Ohio State in their previous match. Despite this difference in momentum, Indiana managed to clinch the victory. In fact, this was the second defeat Maryland suffered at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers in the 2023 season.

Repeating the 7 October Nightmare for the Terrapins

The Maryland Terrapins tried to overcome their 7-October defeat against the Indiana Hoosiers and put up a great fight. However, their offense failed to give them the edge that was needed to carry them to victory. Maryland could only manage 46 kills while the Indiana Hoosiers overshadowed them with 59 kills.

While Maryland equally matched Indiana’s defense with nine blocks and 63 digs, their firepower cost them a winnable match. Compared to their 7 October match, Maryland fared poorly today as they let the gap in kills increase from six to 13.

The Indiana Hoosiers’ players, on the other hand, posted staunch numbers on the scoreboard and recorded a high number of kills. Indiana’s Candela Alonso-Corcelles led the Hoosiers with 22 kills while Morgan Geddes and Avry Tatum contributed 15 and 11 kills respectively. Indiana would now look forward to continuing this energy and ending their 2023 season on a strong note.
