The Nebraska Huskers Women’s Volleyball Team was building a great lineup for the 2024 season. Head coach John Cook and his team are girding up for the new season after concluding the 2023 season on a bitter note. While the team did a great job of bolstering their offensive strength, they suddenly faced a blow that had everyone blindsided.
Outside hitter Ally Batenhorst recently entered the trading portal and has completely stunned the fans. Batenhorst was a great offensive role player for the Nebraska Huskers. Although she initially filled the shoes of the injured Lindsay Krause, she later became a vital member. So why did she entered the trade portal? Batenhorst expresses gratitude and reveals the reason behind the move
Ally Batenhorst took to TikTok and recorded the reason behind her decision to share the nooks and crannies with Nebraska Huskers’ fans. The video showcased the outside hitter explaining how this was her senior year and she needed to achieve several goals. Batenhorst also said that since she doesn’t see herself fulfilling those targets at Nebraska, it is no longer the right fit for her.
Batenhorst was one of the regular players of the Nebraska Huskers and played almost every match in her three seasons with them. She helped the team in several big games throughout the season as well. The Husker Nation was excited about 2024 and thought they had the perfect volleyball troopers for the NCAA Championship.
The current Nebraska Huskers roster has Merritt Beason, Harper Murray, Taylor Landfair, Lindsay Krause, and a new recruit, Skyler Pierce. This significantly enhanced the lineup without adding a lot of foreign elements. While this lineup would have been unstoppable with Ally Batenhorst in it, she’ll be entering the transfer portal. However, the outside hitter said that this wasn’t a decision she made out of the blue. In fact, the outside hitter had been considering it for a very long time.
A move that Nebraska Huskers fans did not see coming
When a team loses the championship finals, the only thought every fan gets in their head is a strong comeback next season with the original roster. However, despite securing a mighty season with the Nebraska Huskers, Ally Batenhorst was thinking about leaving the Huskers for quite some time. Speaking in her TikTok video, she said, “This was not an impulsive decision. I’ve been thinking about this for a while.”

She further added, ” I’m at the point in my career where I need to start thinking about my future and my plans for after college volleyball.” While this does come as a disappointment, it also showcases that if her top priority still had been volleyball, she would not have thought about leaving the Nebraska Huskers. Despite being sad about their star’s imminent transfer, fans as well as fellow Nebraska players wished Batenhorst good luck.
