After being in high demand by both players and fans alike, the US is finally getting its first pro volleyball league. The day of the inaugural match of League One Volleyball will soon commence and everyone is excited about it. Owing to the brilliance of the Nebraska Volleyball scene, the tournament will kick off with its first match in Nebraska.

As America’s first pro league starts, veteran volleyball player and analyst Emily Ehman was naturally present at the venue. A social media post showcased Ehman appearing for a brief interview for the same where she ended up praising Nebraska Volleyball. Ehman even ended up saying that the state easily outperforms every other volleyball pocket in the US.

Ehman hails Nebraska as the heart of US volleyball

Hurrdat Sports tweeted a video to its official X account with the caption, “Volleyball Analyst @emilyehman joined @avariehoward31 ahead of tonight’s first match for the @OmahaSupernovas to speak on the importance of professional volleyball in the United States.” Asking about the venue, the interviewer asked Ehman if she was surprised to see the state getting the chance to host the inaugural match.

To this, Ehman replied, “Not surprising at all. I think nobody does volleyball better than Nebraska does. We’ve seen it with the Huskers and now we’re seeing it here with the Supernovas. Just looking at the arena and the setup that’s here, I don’t know if this could happen in every other arena.

She further added, “It’s so exciting that opening day is really in a place where it feels like the heart of volleyball in America.” The popularity of volleyball surely has surged in the US owing to Nebraska, especially the Nebraska Huskers. Especially the 2023 season saw Huskers fans break several viewership records.

The Nebraska effect uplifts the sport

The Husker Nation has shown immense support to the Nebraska Huskers throughout the years, with their love peaking in 2023. The stands saw the footfall of thousands of fans in all their home games. While John Cook’s volleyball team was used to the high count of fans in home games, the playoffs saw the Husker Nation travel to Tampa as well.

The 2023 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship saw the Texas Longhorns defeat the Nebraska Huskers to clinch a 3-1 win to win back-to-back titles. While the Huskers lost the match, the number of red jerseys in the arena supporting them cheered for them nonetheless. Moreover, the final match had record footfall and viewership numbers, easily surpassing any NCAA event. Although fans of both teams were present at the event, the red team’s fans outnumbered that of Texas. Will the Husker Nation get to see its team win the NCAA title in 2024?
