Soon after the 2024 volleyball off-season began, all the collegiate volleyball teams started to add and remove players from their roaster to strengthen the team’s core for the upcoming season. Although most famous transfers are committed to the Nebraska Huskers’ team, Oregon volleyball is pretty close.

Recently, Oregon welcomed a pivotal setter to the team’s roster who, after leaving Florida Southwestern, found a home in the Oregon Volleyball team. The newly committed not only boasts a remarkable experience as a setter but is also among the top-ranking assists players who are all set to change the dynamics of Oregon’s team.

Florida Southwestern junior joins Oregon

Recently, Matt Ulmer, the head coach of Oregon, announced that the team will welcome its latest addition, Roberta Purashaj. To share this ecstatic news among the spectators, College VBall Transfers took to their official Twitter account and posted a couple of photographs of Roberta Purashaj. Along with the pictures they penned, “𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 : Roberta Purashaj : Setter : Junior From: Florida SouthWestern To: Oregon“.

Roberta, the 2023 AVCA Two Year College National Player of the Year, headed towards Oregon after spending two seasons with the Florida Southwestern State volleyball team. Along with her national player title, she is renowned for helping the team to win consecutive NCAA Division 1 titles. Currently, she boasts a record of 1035 assists last season, meaning 11.01 assists per set, which is a third-highest nationally. In addition, she also offers a .316 hitting percentage, a career-high of 60 assists, and 13.87 kills per set. Her addition comes alongside the addition of some other faces on the team.

Oregon volleyball team’s impressive roster boost

Although the reason for adding Roberta Purashaj is not officially declared, it is pretty evident that her incredible performance and long list of achievements make her a standout player. She has been an NJCAA All-American selection and the first at Florida Southwestern to get the honor. Consequently, she will join Michelle Ohwobete and Mackenzie Morris. But Purashaj is one of many to join Oregon.

Ducks or Oregon will also welcome freshman Anaya Thrower and Mia Tyrdy to the team. Last season has been quite fortunate for the team as they finished the campaign with a remarkable 29-6 record, apart from this. The team also featured its second consecutive trip to the top 8. But, the impact of the changed roaster will be seen in a few days.
