As the NCAA Div 1 Women’s volleyball tournament is approaching, teams from different conferences are all girded up to qualify for their spot in the tournament. While some of the teams have qualified for the 2023 NCAA Volleyball championships, others are still waiting for their automatic qualification.?

Interestingly, the American Athletic Conference, recently reached its finale while offering three competing teams the automatic qualification for the upcoming NCAA Volleyball championships. In the final showdown of the American Athletic Conference, the Southern Methodist University’s volleyball team (SMU Mustangs) is crowned as the tournament winner, clinching the NCAA volleyball championship slot.?

Team SMU Crowned as AAC Champions

On 17th November, team SMU entered the battlefield against opponents North Texas at Dallas. The final showdown between SMU and North Texas was highly anticipated as both teams competed to secure the 2023 NCAA Championship berth and the 2023 American Athletic Conference West Division and Regular Season Championships.

Soon after entering the volleyball court, the SMU Mustangs made it difficult for the opponent team even to score a single point. Eventually, the SMU Mustangs made it to clinch each of the three sets at the final showdown. In addition to this, the team made the final game a thrill by securing a remarkable (18-25, 13-25, 25-27) with 3-0 score.?

Even though team North Texas tried their best to make this match a win, they could not even win a single set at the match. Consecutively, team SMU Mustangs were crowned as the winners of the AAC 2023 championships. Along with the championship title, team SMU became one of the three teams getting automatic qualification for the upcoming championships.?

Who are the three volleyball teams aiming for the NCAA Championship title?

While SMU Mustangs counted their 13 consecutive wins and third conference titles since 2016, the team also featured a higher attacking percentage as compared to its opponent’s 23rd time in the championship.

Along the same lines, Team SMU Mustangs secured a direct route to NCAA championships alongside team Texas and Pepperdine volleyball powerhouses.

As the AAC championships reached its final stage, the anticipation for the three NCAA championships’ direct qualifications ended.
