On 14th December, in the semi-final match of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, Texas Longhorns stood victorious against their opponents Wisconsin Badgers. Even though spectators were sure that the Wisconsin Badgers would win, the Texas Longhorns took the opportunity to prove everyone wrong.

Eventually, for the first time in collegiate volleyball history, Texas has made it to the National Championships finals and will be competing against the top-ranking Nebraska Huskers. Interestingly, as Texas clinched their position in regional finals, the head coach of the team shared his unfeigned perspective on Longhorns’ journey.

Texas Longhorn’s Head Coach’s Insights 

Soon after achieving huge success as the team made it to the National Championships, Texas’s Longhorn’s head coach turned the heads by sharing his insights in an interview conducted by NCAA. In addition, the video was posted on the Twitter account of NCAA Women’s Volleyball.

They penned, “There is so much confidence and calmness amongst our team right now, and we’re excited about it.” Michelle Chester chats with head coach Jerritt Elliott on making it to the National Championship as Texas volleyball looks to defend its title. After achieving something remarkable, Texas Longhorns.”

The exceptional performance on the court from the Texas Longhorns is purely due to the remarkable players on the team. While appreciating the top contenders on the team, Elliot said, “Molly’s game has really increased, and, you know, we’ve got some balancings. And now, we’re at the point where Harper Lyella, she’s now at a point where she can run offense.”

He added, “What do players like Maddie Skinner and Aja O’Neill mean to a program? Everything, you know. They mean so much. You know, sometimes you get great players, but they’re not always perfect.” But is this all enough to compete against the No. 1 ranking team, the Nebraska Huskers?

National Championship Showdown

While achieving a spot at the National Championship showdown against the No.1 Ranking Nebraska Huskers is a significant achievement by the Longhorns, Nebraska’s team is looking forward to clinching the title.

With this, Texas Longhorns are seeking this year’s National Championship title. But, the process is more challenging than it seems. As the head coach mentioned, “But I’m not looking at defending. I’m looking at trying to win the school and the national championship. And I think we’re all going to get a lot of relaxation from that.”
