Being Commenced on September 20th, the Big Ten Volleyball tournament is among the most anticipated events. The Big Ten volleyball tournaments are automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. Thus, the participating team performed exceptionally well to take up first place in the tournament.

Since every week Big Ten volleyball titles are provided, the individual game of the athletes is also important in the tournament. Even though the Wisconsin Badgers had a turbulent week, one of its key players shined bright in the event by clinching the Player of the Week title.

Who is Wisconsin’s Volleyball team’s Standout Performer?

Sarah Franklin, with her exceptional display of prowess, has made it to the spotlight. While team Wisconsin witnessed many losses to team Huskers, Sarah Franklin secured the Big Ten Player of the Week title. A recent tweet by Big Ten Volleyball was captioned as, ” #B1GVolleyball WEEKLY AWARDS Player: BadgerVB ‘s Sarah Franklin Defensive: PurdueVB’s Raven Colvin Setter: IndianaVB’s C. amryn Haworth Freshman: HuskerVB’s Bergen Reilly”

Sarah Franklin, aka Wisconsin’s star player, is a senior outside hitter. She recorded double-digit kills, nine digs, five blocks, and three service aces in the tenth week. In addition to this, she also featured 38 kills and finished with only one error, leading to a remarkable .474 hitting percentage. 

Although Sarah Franklin played exceptionally well on the court, the undefeated Wisconsin volleyball team witnessed a major setback this week. While Team Wisconsin lost matches, team Nebraska emerged victorious and took over Wisconsin’s first position in the tournament in the tenth week.

Wisconsin’s Position at the Tournament 

Consecutively, due to its recent defeat by Nebraska’s volleyball team, Badgers will be placed at overall second position in the tournament. While Team Nebraska features to stand atop the podium this week, Team Iowa is the last team placed on the Big Ten standings. In addition, team Wisconsin still has achieved the remarkable streak of 20-1, marking only one defeat in the tournament.

Furthermore, while Sarah from team Wisconsin clinched Player of the Week, Purdue’s Raven Colvin secured the Defensive Player of the Week Award. On the other hand, Indiana’s Camryn Haworth featured the Setter of the Week award, whereas Husker’s Bergen Reilly managed to grab the Freshman of the Week award.
