As the sporting community braces up for the Paris Olympics, the USA’s volleyball team is dreaming big to retain its top position. A plethora of young athletes will look forward to making a name for themselves in their first-ever Olympics. However, for many, this would be their last shot at greatness. For Nebraska Huskers alum and three-time Olympic medalist Jordan Larson, the French capital will be the final stretch of the lap and she is determined to make the most of it.

Larson is the current assistant coach of the Huskers women’s volleyball team, who accumulated several accolades during her time as a player for the country’s top-rated team. After the end of her playing career, Larson spent quite some time overseas, lending her expertise to new teams. And now, Larson is gearing up for one last attempt to help Team USA repeat its feat from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In a recent social media post by volleyball pundit Lincoln Arneal, Larson’s hopes have come to light. In the post, Arneal claims that the three-time World Grand Prix gold winner Larson has chosen to focus her training efforts on the 2024 Paris Olympics. “Jordan Larson will not be playing professionally this spring as she gears up for the Olympics later this summer“, announced the post.

In a recent interview, Larson revealed that she’s spending time in Anaheim, where the national team is currently training for the Olympics. Larson said that she thoroughly enjoyed coaching the last season, which also sparked that fire inside of her to get back on the court with her team once again.

One take at a time

Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
