The 23 December match in Nijverdal, Netherlands, saw Jordan Raney and Ryann Neushul spearheading the American offense. Both women scored three goals each to keep the Netherlands water polo team at bay. Their offensive effort was complemented by the defensive skills of Amanda Longan, who stopped eight goal attempts by the Dutch.

The US had lost their previous match against Italy with a marginal difference of 16-17. Not letting the defeat weigh them down, the US stopped the Netherlands from closing the gap in the third and fourth quarters. While the US now stands tall with a record of 28-4-1, it also secured significant victories throughout the year.
