Penn State standout and 4x NCAA wrestling champion Carter Starocci is facing a series of heartbreaks! Previously it was in the Olympic trial at Jordan Bryce Center. Now, it was the turn of Angelo Ferrari to throw a challenge to Carter Starocci at the beginning of a fresh wrestling season. The junior Ferrari has risen to the ranks this year dramatically. His challenge to the 186 weight class phenom from Penn State also served to be dramatic.

Through his TikTok handle, Angelo Ferrari elevated the challenging message, emulating the Naruto manga series. In the voice of the protagonist Sasuke Uchiha, Angelo vowed to “destroy a certain someone”. However, the background visual flaunted it to be Carter Starocci. Furthermore, like the fictional character’s warrior clan, Angelo Ferrari comes from the wrestling line of brothers AJ Ferrari and Anthony Ferrari. So the comparison has become far more relatable. However, Angelo’s weight class is not fixed yet.

In the Iowa Hawkeyes program, Angelo preferred to be featured in either the 174 or 184 weight class. However, Carter Starocci has been fixed on the 184 category for quite a time. Even in the recently concluded Olympic trial, Starocci featured in the 86 kg Olympic weight class. Ultimately, he had to face a defeat against Trent Hidlay after a fiery fight in the second round. However, the Ferrari brothers remained far away from the Olympic trials. But that may not result in a blot on Angelo Ferrari’s resume.

The Melissa High School pass-out earned the coveted position to be Iowa’s third known 2024 commitment. Moreover, he is being advertised as a future heavyweight prospect for his achievements, including two Walsh Ironman titles. So before the fresh season, the challenge might make a serious notation for Carter Starocci.

However, for Iowa Hawkeyes’ coach Tom Brands, the roaring from Angelo Ferrari might pan out as a fine tune. A plentiful reason is behind this.

Carter Starocci’s Penn State might face a challenge

For the last several seasons, the Iowa Hawkeyes has been facing trouble from Penn State. Carter Starocci is noteworthy among those who inflicted terror in the Hawkeyes camp. In the past season of the NCAA championship, Penn State almost swept the Tom Brands mentored team. In the Big Ten wrestling dual, Penn State handed a 29-6 scoreline to the Hawkeyes in Iowa City this year. Playing a major role there, Carter Starocci defeated Patrick Kennedy in 174-category. But things are hanging on a slim thread now for Carter Starocci.

As far as the senior’s fifth-year return is concerned, he has yet to take his final call. “As I said in my last interview, I was 60-40 not coming back, but now that I’ve been thinking about it a little more, I’m 60-40 [for] coming back. So we’ll see,” he claimed recently. So Angelo Ferrari will have to wait a little longer to face the phenom in the NCAA wrestling.
