Mike Grey has shown great results almost as soon as he was appointed as the head coach. His training led Cornell Wrestlers to clinch medals at the World Wrestling Championships for the US. Meanwhile, the coach has also been winning the hearts of fans. In fact, a social media post showcased a glimpse of how he communicates with Cornell’s fanbase on a regular basis.

Mike Grey gets big praise for reaching out to every Cornell fan

A tweet shared on X talked about the personal approach of Mike Grey to Cornell loyalists. The tweet carried the caption, “I’m a Buckeye fan, but follow Cornell due to a local area kid being on their roster. Coach Grey does a great job of regularly communicating with his fan base and I have much respect for him and his program.”

The tweet also had a screenshot of the email attached, wherein Mike Grey addressed fans as ‘Cornell Wrestling Faithfuls’. The email saw Grey speaking to the fans about the injured state of his starters during their dual against Iowa State University. Grey revealed that injuries are unpredictable, but he can’t risk major injuries to his students by making them fight with injuries.

Justifying his strong stance, Cornell Wrestling’s head coach also said that they have even more big matches coming up. Thus, it’s necessary that all wrestlers, especially the starters remain healthy. His email comes as a response to several fans asking him about the dual Cornell badly lost. In fact, ISU ended up winning seven out of the ten bouts against Cornell.

Cornell Wrestling registers a massive defeat against Iowa State

Head coach Mike Grey sent backup wrestlers of the Cornell Wrestling roster to wrestle against the highly competitive Iowa State. This move was not appreciated by several wrestling fans, as they didn’t get to see what they had come for. While Grey protected his injured wrestlers on his squad, it instantly phased out the raging hype the match carried.

While Greg Diakomihalis had set Cornell Wrestling for a good start, Iowa State responded with a series of consecutive bout wins. Hopefully, Grey’s regular emails pacified Cornell fans for the big 26-15 defeat against Iowa. Will Mike Grey and his team be able to bounce back from this low point?
