Jacarra Winchester had a fabulous season this year. At the end of any journey comes the verdict-time. She triumphed there as well. Days before, United World Wrestling has released the temporary rankings for this year. Jacarra claimed the top spot there in the 55kg category. Here she managed to get past the Japanese wrestler Haruna Okuno who had shocked her at the final match of the World Championship this year.

Birthday joy topped by wrestling success

On the occasion of the birthday of Jacarra Winchester, USA wrestling took to their Instagram, wishing “Happy Birthday” to her. Undoubtedly, turning 31 would not have been better. Jacarra gained this recognition with an impressive score of 53000 scores in the wrestling matches played this year. On the other hand, her only competitor, Haruna Okano of Japan, stands at the second position in the list with 45000 points.

However, these rankings are temporary. The position attained by each wrestler is subject to change. These scores are on the basis of the points secured in the matches played this year. Meanwhile, the final rankings of the season will be estimated after the completion of Pan American Games 2024. The USA’s 2024 Olympics representative is all set to dominate the Olympics mat, and this is all clear with her domination in the world rankings. But the only drawback she has this year is her recent defeat.

She gave electrifying competition to the contenders in each battle in the World Wrestling championship. But she still needs to accomplish the target of getting a second World Championship gold this year. The last she made it to gold in the same event was in 2019. Although the wrestling sensation made it to clinch a spot in the Paris Olympics 2024, she lost the final match at the World Championships. She locked horns with Haruna Okuno of Japan in the 55 Kg category in the final battle. Eventually, she lost the final battle to her Japanese opponent, securing a 4-2.

In an exclusive interview with NBCSsports, Jacarra Winchester said, ” Good tournament,…Not the result that I wanted, so I’m very disappointed, but it doesn’t matter what you do throughout the day. My goal was to be a world champion, and I fell short of that, so back to the drawing board.”

Although Jacarra is sitting pretty at the top position at the moment, the final showdown is yet to happen in Paris in 2024. Will she be able to clinch an Olympic gold for the USA in 55 KG?
