Nick Lee announced his 2024 Pan Am Qualifiers stepping with humbling Yianni Diakomihalis on February 3. Yianni tried his best to pin the enigmatic wrestler down. Eventually, his fans started to see their favorite flying off better. However, Nick Lee took 4 rounds to get the upper hand over the 65-kg phenom. But a defeated Yianni Diakomihalis took 4 weeks to startle the social media feed again.

As announced earlier, the Pan Am 65-kg wrestler flaunted his IG feed on Tuesday with his latest brand feature. Moreover, the engagement dictated a special chapter in his ongoing wrestling episode.

Yianni Diakomihalis joins a special league of champions

Last year, the Cornell Big Red’ standout claimed to earn the coveted deal from Spartan Combat. The apparel brand already roped in several elite wrestlers to showcase their battalions of spearheads. However, on Tuesday, Yianni uploaded a snippet from the latest ad where he joined fellow wrestlers from the NCAA wrestling program to promote the brand. The actual IG went air with the caption, “Spartan Combat the choice of champions! #LeaveYourMark”.

The snippet featured the stalwarts David Carr, Kyle Dake, Anthony Ashnault, Vito Arujau, and Kylie Welker. Keeping a similarity with the mentioned wrestlers, Yianni Diakomihalis ended his last NCAA wrestling season on a high note. Against Ohio State, the 65-kg prodigy snatched his victory by a scoreline of 4-2. Eventually, such high-octane performances in the season bolstered the 2022 World silver medalist to repeat his 2020 Pan Am success in Acapulco. However, that went in limbo. But his achievements made him a vehement candidate for the Paris Olympics 2024 trial.

The Pan Am difficulties will set the path

After missing out on the Pan Am qualifier, Yianni Diakomihalis is left out with the upcoming US Olympics wrestling trial, which happens to be in April. The tussles in the Bryce Jordan Centre will unlock the contention for the 65-kg category. As the rule dictates, the men’s freestyle berth in 65 kg is still open to fill. As of now, the 74,86,97 and 125-category are filled up with American wrestlers. So, Yianni will have his chance again. Eventually, that might be a revenge occasion for him.

In the Tokyo Olympics wrestling trial as well, the Cornell Red wrestler faced his penultimate loss to Nick Lee, the Penn State wrestler. That loss decimated his chance of Olympic participation. So, now in March, the elite wrestler might find his boost up from the Spartan Combat feature.
