Iowa wrestling team is setting the mats on fire at the Soldiers Salute Tournament. In a resounding display of collective strength and prowess on the court, the Iowa Hawkeyes have managed to leave an indelible mark by coveting spots at the Soldier Salute Tournament semifinals.

The major reason for the recent storm is the star players performing exceptionally well on the wrestling mat. However, the triumph is double as both men’s and women’s wrestling teams have pushed a pack of 22 wrestlers in the upcoming showdown.

Men’s Wrestling team securing a spot against Minnesota 

Recently, the Iowa Wrestling team secured a spot against the Minnesota wrestling team in the quarterfinals of the Soldiers Salute in men’s freestyle wrestling. While Iowa features 107.5 points, the Minnesota wrestling team has 81 overall points. Interestingly, the top five teams at the tournament are Nothern Iowa at the first spot with 56, South Dakota State at second with 50.5, and Wyoming at third with 46.5.

Iowa Hawkeyes have come up with rights nationally ranked wrestlers in the semifinals. These include No.1 Real Woods, No. 7 Michael Caliendo, and No.2 Jared Franek. On the other hand, Minnesota punched rights nationally ranked wrestling stars into the semifinals, including No. 10 Isaiah Salazar and No. 19 Patrick McKee. 

In addition to the eight nationally ranked wrestlers, Hawkeyes also features the Ferrari brothers. While Anthony Ferrari will be competing in the 149 pounds category, AJ Ferrari, who is a new addition to the team, will be featured in the 197 pounds wrestling category. However, Iowa Wrestling’s triumph is doubled as the team features men’s and women’s wrestling athletes at the semis.

Iowa Hawkeyes women’s wrestling team also shines

In a display of equal grit, the Iowa Hawkeyes’ women’s wrestling team also pumped 11 wrestlers into the semis. The top two teams at the tournament are Iowa Hawkeyes and Life University. However, Iowa is leading Life by 10. 5 points.

On the other hand, Life has come up on the semifinal wrestling mat with 10 athletes. However, the major anticipation among the spectators is for the two semifinal matches. At 116 pounds, Brianna Gonzalez of Iowa will compete against Estefany Garcia of Life, whereas at 136 pounds Iowa’s Anayka Besco will lock horns against Zaynah McBryde. It remains to be seen how many among the 22 wrestlers keep Iowa’s flag flying.
