Iowa’s wrestling team has been performing remarkably this year at the NCAA Tournament. Soon after coming up on the NCAA wrestling mats, the team started dominating the opponents. Interestingly, Iowa has managed to clinch a win over three opponents in the last four matches.

Notably, the winning streak of Iowa’s wrestling team also includes an exceptional 19-straight win over their arch-rivals Iowa State. However, this is not the end of the massive accomplishments on the plate of Iowa’s wrestling team. Recently, the team also grabbed the opportunity to dominate weekly NCAA honors. Now, the team is preparing to face off against Penn State in the coming matches.

Coach Brand’s team heading towards Philadelphia 

Iowa Hawkeyes improved to 3-0 in the last season with a notable victory over ranking opponent Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. After winning six of the ten bouts, the team enrouted its astonishing victory over the Cyclones. But this is not the end of the dominance Iowa’s wrestling team is seeking. Now, the Iowa team is travelling all the way to Philadelphia to come up on the NCAA Wrestling mat against team Penn State this Friday. A recent post by Iowa Hawkeye wrestling was captioned as “Gotta be ready to go.”

In the same post, coach Brands said, “It’s gonna be a f**aking bee-hive and they are excited…I have been there for some events and an interview with one of America’s greatest ambassadors in the sport of wrestling show, . We are going back there to wrestle Penn, and they are making a big deal out of it. They should, and we are excited to be a part of it. But we gotta be ready to go.”

While team Penn State is ranked at the first position in the overall rankings, Iowa’s wrestling team is placed at number 4. In the fourth week of the NCAA Tournament, team Iowa features 301 points, whereas team Penn State reigns the rankings with 350 points. Interestingly, Iowa’s wrestling team is all set to face off their worthy opponent’s team, Penn, to improve their scores soon after winning a couple of titles. 

Iowa Hawkeye’s dominance at weekly honors

Fortunately, this season benefits the Iowa Hawkeyes as the team gets ample opportunities to shine on the NCAA Wrestling mat. Therefore, Iowa State is emerging victorious in battles while showcasing its prowess on the mat. This week, team Iowa State has bagged the honour of Team of the Week at the NCAA Championship.

Apart from this, the recent honor team’s key player, Gabe Arnold, wrestling at 184 pounds, clinched the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week accolade. Arnold replaced Spencer Lee as the Last Iowa Wrestler of the Week. His achievement aligns with the 19th consecutive win against the arch-rivals Iowa State.

Overall, team Iowa is performing quite well this season, but this is not enough to clinch the NCAA Championship title. The team must overcome the intense competition given by the opponent team, Penn State, at the Championship. This can be done by defeating Penn’s wrestling team in the coming match this Friday.
