The highly anticipated match between the No. 2-ranked Missouri wrestling team and the No. 11 Virginia Tech took place on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The No. 2 Tigers defeated the opponent Virginia Tech maintaining their undefeated start.
In the showdown between Mizzou and Hokies, the Mizzou wrestler Keegan O’Toole left the crowd in awe with his spectacular combatting skills. No. 1 Keegan O’Toole faced the strong rival No. 27 Connor Brady at the Hearnes Center. Missouri Tigers’ Keegan O’Toole squad off with Connor Brady

The No. 2-ranked University of Missouri wrestling team defeated No. 11 Virginia Tech 22–17, ending a three-match losing streak. With the win over the Hokies, the team overcame a six-point deficit. The Tigers continue their perfect start to the 2023–24 season, moving up to 6-0. However, No. 11 Hokies drop to 3-2.
Hailing from Hartland, Wisconsin, Keegan O’Toole helped the Mizzou to the victorious comeback in the Tuesday match. Following the interval, Keegan O’Toole took to the field. He defeated his strong opponent No. 27 Connor J. Brady with a notable tach fall of 20-4 at 165 pounds category. O’Toole helped the Tigers to cut down the deficit to 12-11. He has been earning bonus points for all his 165-pound performances this season.
For his remarkable performance, O’Toole, took the special attention of the audience. The Mizzou supporters appreciated Keegan O’Toole for his amazing tech fall and gave a standing ovation to the wrestler.

Mizzou makes a remarkable comeback
Mizzou had a difficult start in the match as the No. 11 Hokies won four of the opening five games and led 12-6 at the intermission. After the break, Missouri reversed the trend by winning four of the remaining five matches, including the final three, to complete the comeback.
Apart from O’Toole, other Mizzou wrestlers including Clayton Whiting, Zach Elam, and Rocky Elam also helped the team leading the winning comeback. The six-point deficit of Mizzou against Hokies marks their biggest comeback win since they recovered from the 12-3 hole against formidable Arizona State opponents in Feb 2022.

It is for the first time since Nov 16, 2018, that the Tigers defeated the Hokies in a victorious win, which makes it all the more celebratory occasion for the players and fans.
