How did Adeline Gray perform on the US wrestling team?
After returning to practice in January 2023, Gray faced her first-ever championship at the US Open on April 29. Surprisingly, the mother of two was recovering from an ab separation from the pregnancy, when she returned to practice. Gray competed against 19-year-old Kennedy Blades, who defeated Gray by earning a 10-point mercy rule.
However, the mother of two trained supremely hard to set an example on Saturday’s Final X, the championship that selected men’s and women’s teams for freestyle and Greco-Roman categories.

However, in Final X, Gray beat Kennedy Gray in the first round of the best-of-three series of the 76kg spot. The 32-year-old’s performance brought her one step ahead of her goal. The second round of the series will commence in the next few hours.

After achieving a momentous victory in the Final X, Gray expressed how she was getting back to the sport after so long, “It’s like every three weeks it’s a little bit more used to my body.” Furthermore, she added, “There’s pieces of wrestling that you have to put together. It’s just going to take me a little bit of time.” Gray indicated that she was balancing the well-being of her body and taking things slow.

Gary added, “my frame did stretch a little more than my abs allowed.” As a result, she had to undergo an abs separation surgery, in order to return to the wrestling mat. However, the wrestler added that her comeback was highly depended on how fast her tissues healed. She was being very patient throughout her recovery journey and kept hoping for the best.
