New Renderings for the facility to live for the ‘next 100-year’

Recently, The University of Northern Iowa took it to their official website and posted a couple of pictures of their New Gym while giving insights about what the program is planning. The University of Northern Iowa wrestling has been raising funds through the ‘Our Tomorrow’ fundraising campaign to build a new home for wrestlers that can last up to the next century. The campaign aims to raise $250 million and is the largest fundraising effort in the university’s 147-year history.

In a recent UNI release, once again brought forward the iconic comment made by Coach Doug Schwab when the team left the West Gym back in October last year. Schwab had said, “The people around our athletes are the most important, but having a facility that meets our needs is critical,… I’m thinking about how we can get our next 100-year-old building. How that will happen is a lot of fans, a lot of donors and a lot of people who believe in what we’re doing beyond the wrestling mat.” Since their eviction, they have been practicing at the USA Mat Club in Cedar Falls.

Interestingly, new renderings released today directed a floor plan for the new facility. The UNI release also featured cardio training space, locker room, training room, and rehabilitation space. Apart from that, office space, strength and conditioning areas, athletics rooms, and wrestling rooms are also there. The new facility seems to be a perfect complement to the rich wrestling history of the UNI.
