Greco-Roman wrestler Kamal Bey concluded the year 2023 on a great note. Although he faced an uphill battle to clinch the higher ranks in 2022, he managed to not only overcome the intense competition but also emerge victorious at the 2023 XIX Pan-American Games in Chile and the 2023 Senior Pan-American Championships in Argentina.

Interestingly, he managed to knock off his opponent and multiple-time continental champion Yosvanys Pena Flores. However, Kamal Bey’s thrust was not quenched at this point as he went on to achieve more titles. Eventually, he added another accolade to his already impressive resume with remarkable performances on his 25th birthday.

Early Birthday present “Athlete of the Year 2023”

Born on 3rd January 1998, Kamal Bey celebrates his 25th birthday this year. Therefore, to extend good wishes to the remarkable wrestling sensation, USA Wrestling posted a picture of Kamal Bey while wishing him a Happy Birthday. Along with the picture, they penned, “Happy birthday, Kamal!”

Interestingly, this year, he has also been honored with the title of 5 PM Athlete of the Year 2023. This is the second time Kamal Bey has achieved the same honor. Last, he received Athlete of the Year back in 2017.

Apart from this, Kamal Bey also won two other year-end honors, Impact Performer and Outstanding Individual Performer, with the help of fan votes. In addition to this, he also wrote his name while registering a record of winning all three titles in one year by a single contender in the history of Five Point Move. But Kamal Bey is not satisfied yet.

Eying on the 2024 Pairs Olympics’

At the 2023 Pan American Games, Bey shined throughout. Bey went into the final three minutes and trounced the opponent. In an exclusive interview with Army.mil, Bey said, “It was more staying calm and composed and thinking about the next move I was going to attempt. His whole thing was trying to slow me down. How to beat guys like that is not to let them slow me down and look for opportunities to score.

Eventually, Bey achieved a gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games. However, the path to the Olympics is not easy for the wrestler. As he is known for making impressive moves on and off the wrestling mat, he is all girded up to overcome obstacles along the way for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
