Reigning Olympic wrestling gold medalist David Taylor is one of the toughest grapplers out there. The 86kg powerhouse is known for winning every title he has set his mind to for quite some time now. Moreover, it is also very difficult for his opponents to score any points off his defense.

David Taylor is currently preparing for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he will be defending his prestigious 2020 title. However, a social media post showcased that he has a major hole to plug in his defense. In fact, he was recently overpowered by an unexpected opponent who secured a clean takedown against him.

When David Taylor was thrown on his back

David Taylor added a new video on Instagram carrying several spectacles of mini bouts between DT and some young wrestlers. A section of the clip showed the Olympic champ being thrown on his back as several of his friends looked on. Captioning the video, Taylor wrote, “We’re back with another C. Harper wrestling camp, and this time we’re at Norwin High School!”

David Taylor further noted, “Last time I wrestled every kid & this time was no different. I’m on a mission to find a youngster that can take me down. Let me know in the comments below if you think you’d be able to get a takedown. Feel free to nominate any friends you think could stand a chance, maybe we can set something up!⁠ Thank you again C. Little did the Olympic champ know that he would actually get taken down. David Taylor has been taking an increasing interest in mentoring young talent. While he already has his own academy named M2 Training Center in Pennsylvania, he is now traveling and working with even younger hands. However, this doesn’t mean that he isn’t after the Olympic glory anymore. In fact, the recent revelation of the Olympic medals triggered his lust for victory even more.

The Olympics recently unveiled the first look of the Olympic medals, which are up for grabs for every top athlete across various disciplines. Marveling at the brilliance of the medals, David Taylor added a story on Instagram that said, GOLD LOOKS GOOD. Thus, Taylor’s resolution to defend his Tokyo crown and win the new Paris gold looks very strong.

David Taylor has been training at the Nittany Lions Wrestling Club to fulfill this objective for a long time now. Many wrestling greats relaxed in the off-season.
