While the Pan Am Championships rekindled the hopes for fans to witness a decade-old rivalry finally coming to a thrilling culmination, others will be bracing up for their Olympics debut after an exhilarating showdown in Mexico. And Elor will be among those who will be eyeing a spectacular introduction to their Olympic career.

Pan American Olympic qualifiers announce another soldier for Team USA

In a recent Twitter post by the official USA Wrestling account, it has been announced that the 2023 World Championships gold medalist Amit Elor will be resuming action at the national team trials after a perfect 2-0 run at the Pan American Olympic qualifiers. “Amit Elor finishes 2-0 at the Pan American Olympic Games Qualifier to earn @TeamUSA a 2024 Olympic Games quota in women’s freestyle wrestling at 68 kg!“, highlights the emphatic post as it further enhances the USA’s Olympic dream.

With that, Elor secured her first national team trials spot. While the 2024 Pan American Championships didn’t end up being a successful run for Elor, unlike many of her national colleagues, it waits to be seen how she makes up for the lost opportunity next month at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Elor’s morning began as she faced off against Cuba’s Brenda Sterling Martinez and picked up a major 12-1 victory in the quarterfinal match without having broken much sweat in the process. However, things got more challenging in the semifinals as Thamires Machado of Brazil showed more resilience and kept Elor busy on the mat for a considerable time before the latter managed a 10-4 win for the Olympic quota spot. Amit’s phenomenal display of skills wrapped up another successful day for Team USA in Mexico.

America adds more depth to its attacking roster for Paris

On the first day of the event, Greco-Roman wrestlers of the US reigned supreme as Cohlton Schultz, Alan Vera, and Spencer Woods all bolstered their bids for a spot in the national team bound for Paris later this year. The emphatic first day was only made sweeter as the women’s freestyle wrestlers took over the responsibilities and kept the ball rolling for the second consecutive day. Along with Amit, the country’s No. 1-ranked female wrestler Dom Parrish and this year’s Pan Am Championships gold medalist Kayla Miracle also clean-swept their opponents to qualify for the national team trials.

With Team USA already flexing its muscles ahead of the Paris Games, the three-time World Junior champion Elor will have to buckle up to face together obstacles on her way to the European metropolitan.
