As the first month of 2024 is concluding, the anticipation for the upcoming Olympic events can be felt in the year. While some athletes have qualified for the event, many are yet to go. Along the same lines, the USA’s top wrestling stars who still need to qualify for the Olympics 2024 have gotten a golden opportunity.

The top contenders from Team USA are heading toward the upcoming Pan American Olympic Qualifiers scheduled to take place in February. All the wrestlers competing at the event will get a fair chance to secure their Olympic berth way before the US Olympic trials at Penn State in April.

Which USA wrestlers are vying for that Olympic spot? 

United World Wrestling took it to its official Twitter account and posted a list of entries at the event. Alongside the list, they penned, “The Pan-American Olympic Qualifier will kick off the continental qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Games. Here is the list of the wrestlers entered for the February 28-March one event in Acapulco, Mexico.

Pan American Qualifiers allow wrestlers to win the coveted spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics Trails for their nations across 18 weight classes. Besides this, the event will be featuring six weight classes in each of the three styles. Therefore, team USA will be coming up with 11 wrestlers: Zane Richards (57kg), John Diakomihalis (65), Dominique Parrish (53kg), Kayla Miracle (62kg), Forrest Molinari (68kg), Ildar Hafizov (60), Alejandro Sancho (73kg), Kamal Bey (77kg) Spencer Woods (87kg), and Alan Vera (97kg).

Even though all the wrestlers are willing to grasp the opportunity to keep their Olympic dreams alive, there are certain requirements to participate in the upcoming Pan Am Olympic Qualifiers.

The eligibility requirements for the event

Participants planning to showcase their wrestling moves in the Pan Am Olympic Qualifiers arena are required first to fulfill the basic requirements. Firstly, the wrestlers and countries that won quotas in the World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade last year are not eligible to take part in the 2024 Pan Am Olympics Qualifiers in the winning weight class.

Before the Pan American Olympic Qualifiers, the Pan Am Championships will be held in the same venue in the last week of February. Therefore, to participate on 28 February, wrestlers are required to first participate in the championships before the qualifiers.
