Who is the 125 kg wrestling force at the Paris Olympics 2024?

Encapsulating the bold determination that propels the World Bronze medalist forward, Mason Parris recently sat with the team of Wood TV8. The glimpse of the interview was then posted on WoodTV8’s official YouTube channel with the caption,Olympic wrestler Mason Parris grapples for gold in Paris“.

The journey from being a dreamer to emerging as the Nation’s top contender at 125kg to represent the USA at the Olympic games has been a tough one for Mason. My dad started getting me into wrestling when I was 5 years old. And just as I got older, realizing maybe that was a dream and it could become a reality one day was really cool, Parris said.

Eventually, he went on to add more to create a long list of achievements. Right now he boasts an illustrative resume with an NCAA Championship title and back-to-back Pan American Games gold. However, the most impressive feat was his performance at the 2023 World Wrestling championships, wherein he headed straight to the Olympic trails.

With a confident grin, “Hopefully it’ll be my city that day, Parris with the gold in Paris Mason Paris muses. It’s awesome. I love representing the United States. I think the U.S. is awesome, the best country in the world,” he added. Indeed, Mason is among the top wrestlers on the USA’s plate. But, do you know wrestling is not the only sport that Mason has been found immersed in?

Back in 2018, during his school days at Lawrenceburg High School, Mason stood out as a versatile athlete. Not only did he excel at claiming a long list of accolades at 220 pounds as a wrestler, but also earned four varsity letters as a football player and a track and field athlete.

Despite his impressive performance across various sports, Parris ultimately chose to pursue wrestling as a career path ahead. However, this decision doesn’t diminish his accomplishments in other sports. He was recognized as a three-time Tri-State Football Indiana Defensive Player of the Year and made his mark in tracks by qualifying for the state competitions twice in the 110m hurdles and shotput.

I love the individual aspect of wrestling. It’s just me out there. All of the work that I put in is what I get out of it. Parris reflects appreciation for the self-reliant nature of wrestling sport, where his efforts directly translate into the results.
