Recently the prestigious Henri Deglaine Championship recently unfolded in Nice, France, featuring several top wrestlers from across the world. He also posted a video of his confident victory despite this being his first international senior tournament.

RBY continues his Penn State Wrestling dominance in France

Roman Bravo Young uploaded a video on his YouTube channel titled, “What it’s like to wrestle in France! (short film).” The video showcased a calm RBY reaching Nice via the airport, checking into the facility for wrestlers, and beginning his training. Fans could see the Penn State Wrestling champ follow his Nittany Lion regimen to keep himself charged up for the contest.

After sessions of both shadow as well as actual sparring, RBY is seen in action on the mats of Nice. The video ends with Young standing in the center of the podium, winning the Henri Deglaine Championship at 57kg (125lbs). This was eight pounds lighter than his usual weight class at Penn State Wrestling, where he reigns over the 133lbs category.

Interestingly, while Roman Bravo Young showcased his Henri Deglaine Championship journey across nine minutes, he didn’t use any dialog in the video at all. Despite this, the video’s aesthetics and the points difference of his final match were just enough to keep fans hooked.

A man of zero words and two Grand Prix victories

The final bout of the tournament came down between Roman Bravo Young and his American counterpart, Daniel DeShazer. The Penn State Wrestling star squared off against the Nebraska-Kearney wrestler in a rather intense matchup. Both grapplers showed good defense and didn’t allow each other to score many points.

However, when the whistle was blown, the Penn State Wrestling star had one more point than DeShazer. RBY claimed victory with a decision of 2-1. This marked the second Grand Prix win for the Penn State Wrestling star, who won the gold medal at Mexico City in 2023. Will the Nittany Lion be able to hold onto this momentum and rack up more senior competition wins?
