USA’s dominance at the Pan American Championships

Recently, team USA passed with flying colors at the Pan American Championships. To share the ecstatic news among the spectators, Justin Basch took it to his X account and wrote, “The USA Men’s Freestyle squad goes a perfect 7-0 on the day, as all 10 Men’s Freestyle team members win Pan Am Gold &, of course, win the team title again!

USA wrestlers have found the 2024 Pan American Championships to be quite fruitful. The team kick-started the event with seven podium finishes by top Greco-Roman contenders on the team across multiple weights. Keeping up with the legacy, Alan Vera and Noah Wachsmuth, at 97kg and 73kg, respectively, contributed to the team’s success with silver and bronze medals.

Consequently, the USA’s Greco-Romans secured the team’s trophy while overcoming second place by 63 points. The team also managed to add another victory to its six-year consecutive streak of team races at the Pan American Championships. Going with the flow, women wrestlers put a strong foundation on the same day with five gold and four bronze and silver medals across multiple weights.

Finally, the team could lift the trophy by accumulating 205 points at the event. Now, the expectations were high for men’s freestyle wrestlers. While the men’s team started on the third day with three gold finishes, they seemed even hungrier the following day. Interestingly, the men kept with the expectation and gifted the team a perfect 7-0 on a concluding day to accomplish the team title once again.

Achieving the exceptional

The last time the USA’s men’s freestyle wrestlers accomplished the feat was four years back in the 2019 Pan American Championships. At Buenos Aires, Argentina, the USA, for the first time, etched their name in history for winning every freestyle golf game at the Pan American Championships.
