AJ Ferrari recently added a social media post that hinted that the 2021 NCAA Wrestling Champion may switch to MMA. The post came after Iowa Hawkeyes Wrestling kept its lips tight over his recruitment in its roster. However, while many thought that the post was just AJ being AJ, turns out that he might be really serious about it.

AJ Ferrari has been looming without an NCAA team in hopes of reviving his collegiate career for over two years now. But, now the wrestling champ seems to be fed up with giving the Iowa Hawkeyes the power to dictate what happens with him. His latest social media update suggests that Ferrari has completely buried the idea of a college reboot.

AJ Ferrari solidifies his chances of an imminent switch to MMA

AJ Ferrari took to Instagram and uploaded a story that featured a post by Vigilant MMA LLC. The post showed a graphical representation of all the UFC champions and their primary fighting disciplines. With 28 UFC champs, wrestling topped the charts, while Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu trailed at number two with 17 champions. This came as a second hint that he may no longer be aspiring for a spot with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Captioning the story, AJ wrote, “Wrestling > All other forms of Martial Arts base.” The story comes after along with a tweet he had made on X where he asked his fans if he should make a switch to MMA. Notably, AJ Ferrari had also attached a photo along with his tweet, that showed him on the premises of Kill Cliff FC.

The Iowa Hawkeyes and AJ Ferrari collided at the Soldier Salute wrestling event when Ferrari disrespected Iowa’s Zach Glazier. Making matters worse for himself, AJ flipped double birdies at the crowd, booing at him as well. While this was not a good course of action, the way Iowa has been handling things has room for question as well. They have continued to keep AJ on hold despite accepting him academically.
