Nebraska wrestling team is headed towards the 2024 NCAA Championships, scheduled from March 21-23 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo. As the Huskers feature a strong lineup with seeded wrestlers, they occupy the third spot in the Big Ten Championships ending the season with a strong 12-2 dual record. Now, as the anticipation builds up for the championships, Jordan Burroughs, assistant coach of Nebraska Huskers is adamantly boosting up their spirits.

The decorated wrestler with an Olympic Gold Medal and multiple FILA World Championships, Jordan Burroughs is aiming for victory for his alma mater on the mat. Nine Nebraska wrestlers have earned automatic bids for the finals according to their Big Ten Championship performance.

Jordan Burroughs fuels up Huskers ahead of NCAA Finals

The recent Instagram reel, released by NCAA Wrestling in collaboration with Husker wrestling, features a powerful narration by the six-time world wrestling champion and 2012 Olympic gold medalist, Jordan Burroughs. He underscores the arrival of the ultimate moment of the NCAA Finals, cheering for his alma mater as they head to Kansas City.


Burroughs adds, “The moment is here. The best in the nation facing off at the heart of America,” referring to the dominance of the Nebraska wrestling team. Talking about NCAA Championships, he adds, “On this stage, history will be made. Every minute of it. Every drop of sweat. Every ounce of pain. It’s like the best… Success in this sport demands more than what you’re willing to give.. The final round. Every match, a battle. Every victory, a triumph. The stage is set. The time is now. Go Big Red,” Burroughs adds as he fires up the Nebraska Huskers.

As the final battle nears, key matchups include the top names Caleb Smith vs. Michael DeAugustino, Brock Hardy vs. Vince Cornella, Jacob Van Dee vs. Julian Farber, Peyton Robb vs. Trevor Chumbley, Antrell Taylor vs. Holden Heller, Lenny Pinto vs. Caleb Hopkins, Ridge Lovett with a first-round bye, Silas Allred vs. Luke Geog, and Nash Hutmacher vs. Cohlton Schultz. Ridge Lovett is the top-seeded wrestler for Nebraska at 149 pounds.

Boosting up the spirits of his alma mater

Burroughs had a successful collegiate career as a part of the Huskers, as he secured two NCAA titles. He also earned All-American honors thrice. Burroughs had graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in sociology. He completed his first season with the Nebraska wrestling team as an assistant coach in 2014-15.

At the NCAA Championships, Jordan Burroughs is also a part of the commentator team for ESPN’s primetime and Championship coverage. Burroughs is also aiming for one last shot at Olympic gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships is being broadcast live on the ESPN network, featuring 19 hours of coverage with 640 matches.
