USA Adds 4 Golds to the 2023 Pan Am Games Medal Tally as Wrestling Supremacy Shines Bright

After competing in the World Championships in Tirana, wrestlers headed towards Santiago. The wrestling event at the 2023 Pan American Games commenced on 1 November and will conclude on 4 November. As the first day of the Pan American Games wrestling event unfolded, spectators were not only ecstatic with results but also were anticipating upcoming Women’s freestyle wrestling.

Team USA witnessed draws in the first match in all Olympic style wrestling at Centro de Entrenamiento Olimpico scheduled for 1 to 4 November. But, it managed to show prowess on the mat by emerging victorious in the tournament. Consecutively, USA’s wrestler legends participating in the tournament added four shining golds to the Tally. 

USA’s Wrestling Team Clinching 4 Golds 

Team USA’s wrestlers not only performed well on the world mat but also managed to clinch four medals across various final matches in Santiago, Chile. Soon after entering the arena of the 2023 Pan American Games, USA’s participating wrestlers made it difficult for the opponents to survive in the game. A recent tweet by United World Wrestling was captioned, “USA opens Pan-Am Games with four golds.”

Consecutively, team USA clinched four gold in the 74 kg, 57kg, 97 kg, and 125kg weight class. In the 74kg category, Tyle Berger led the team USA and secured a 3-0 win over Cuba’s Franklin Maren Castillo. Similarly, Mason Parris showed exceptional skills on the mat in the match against Venezuela in the 125kg. 

While Parris secured a 2-0 win in the final match, Zane Richards emerged victorious against Osca Tigreros Urbano with 10-0. On the other hand, Kyle Synder added the fourth and final gold on 1 November in a match against Arturo Silot Torres. Keeping up with the expectations, Kyle secured a remarkable 14- 4 win over his wrestling opponent on the mat. However, this is only part of what the USA’s wrestling team has on its plate for the 2023 Pan American Games. 

Matches Lined Up Ahead in 2023 Pan American Games

USA’s wrestling team features 17 exceptionally skilled wrestlers who will participate in the 2023 Pan American games. Among these wrestling legends, six will be participating in the men’s freestyle wrestling event. While six among 17 American wrestlers will be participating in women’s freestyle wrestling events, five will be featuring in Greco-Roman wrestling events.

Among all these events, only six Olympic weight categories will be contested in the 2023 Pan American Games. In addition to this, these Olympic weight classes will be in each international discipline this year.
